Illinois Wins National Title Laurel Hennenfent, Andrew Hennenfent and Bill Vedder     The Illinois cornhusking team won the National Cornhusking Championship October 21,2001 at Gilfillan, Minnesota with a total of 11 points out of the 33 possible. Iowa placed second with 10 points.
    The Illinois team took 4 first place trophies. Laurel Hennenfent  1st place Young Women up to 20 years old. Andrew Hennenfent 1st place Young Men up to 20 years old. Bill Vedder 1st place Men's 50 and up. Tammy Eindfed 1st place Women 21 to 50.
    Other members of the Illinois team were  Nancy Miller 2nd place Women's Open , Frank Hennenfent 3rd place Men's Open,   Cheri Prewitt 3rd place Young Women up to 20 years old, Nathan Hennenfent 4th place Young Men up to 20 years old, Lisa Warpinski 4th place Women's Open, Steve Stohl 4th place Young Men 21 to 49, Leman White 5th place Men's 75 and up, Harlan Jacobson 9th place Men's 50 and up, David Endress 11th place Men's 75 and up, Ken Warpinski 11th place Young Men 21 to 49, Paul VanArsdale 13th place Men's Open and Richard Humes 14th place Men's Open.
